Message from Singapore Embassy in Cairo
Re: CHANGE OF VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS OF AL-AZHAR
1 Al-Azhar El-Shariff recently announced that, with effect from 1 September 2015, all foreign students who wish to pursue their education with the institution, whether at the University or Primary/Secondary school (Maahad) level, are required to possess a valid student visa before they are allowed to proceed with their registration.
2 Singaporeans who wish to study at Al-Azhar El-Shariff are advised to check with the Egyptian Embassy in Singapore (8 Eu Tong Street #25-82/83/84/85, The Central, Singapore 059818, telephone +65 6225 5991 or +65 6225 5503) regarding obtaining a student visa before travelling to Cairo. Students presently in Cairo who are affected by the new policy are advised to get in touch with the Singapore Embassy in Cairo (Second Secretary Muhammad Taufiq, email firstname.lastname@example.org, mobile +20 12 8998 4007)as soon as possible. While the Singapore Embassy stands ready to assist and make representations on your behalf, we seek your understanding that the Egyptian authorities will have the final say on all visa related matters.
3 As the Egyptian government has tightened visa rules for security reasons, we seek to remind all students to ensure that their visas are valid throughout your stay. It is a serious offence to remain in Egypt without a valid visa.
